Born in Cuba, I grew up in a culture of warm, compassionate, fun-loving people. At the core of this wonderful community were food, family… and music.
Music was around me from day one, and was an integral part of everything we did. We would sing, dance, play guitar or piano, even add in percussion using boxes of rice!
Music wasn’t just a part of life, it was life. It brought people together and breathed powerful energy into even the simplest get togethers. I have met the most amazing people thanks to music, and have been gifted with this incredible means of expressing myself and impacting the world around me.
I was 11 years old when I first learned to play guitar. By age 15, I was playing piano, bass and sax. I formed my first band, The Corvettes, in high school. We played oldies from the ‘50s to the ‘80s and had gigs every weekend. I adored performing and was hooked on the effect a simple song could have on people. The right note, the right tune, the right energy, could make an event unforgettable. What an honor and joy it was to give that to people!
Some time ago, I took a 6 year break from music to attend nursing school and build a career as a nurse in intensive care. Though it is a rewarding and deeply meaningful field, I always felt a void that only music could fill. Ultimately, I decided that life is simply too short and too fragile not to follow my passion. Music has always been a lifeforce to me. It flows through me as naturally as breathing the air. I knew I had to go back.

Zori MusicAs a professional musician, I have now developed a fantastic following of positive, supportive people. I’ve had the great privilege to perform alongside such accomplished musicians as Manny Cepeda, Derek Cannon, The Saxations and Dante, and have attended music clinics, playing with Mimi Fox, Howard Alden and John Stoll. With each experience, I developed my talents further and further. Playing alongside others over the years has empowered me to become a better, more versatile musician.
Today, I play both covers and originals, and play across styles including jazz, R&B, swing, rock, funk, latin and more. I also play with music and love changing the feel of a classic or well-known song to fit unique situations, events or even the reaction of the crowd. It is such a pleasure to see someone’s face light up with recognition of a beloved song played in a new way.
My joy, my absolute passion, is to help people transform their events – weddings, holiday parties, cocktail hours, even corporate events – into something truly special and memorable, through the power and energy of music.
